Down Home Ever Lovin' Mule Blues by Jacquie Rogers

Jacquie Rogers is an amazing talent. She mixes humor and heat, talking mules and romance—and it works. When Socrates-the-midget-mule and his crew of trusty animals, a skunk named Guinevere, a hound dog called Beauty, the show dog, Perseus and a baby porcupine named Miss Pretty Bottom decide to do some match-making, it’s all over but the shouting.

The humans are helpless against their mechanisms—and it doesn’t hurt that they are really, really crazy about each other, though neither Brody-the-bullfighter or Rita-the-would-be-actuary are aware of it. Toss in a cranky old cowboy and Rita’s very independent mother, and you have a wonderful mix of love, laughter and reading pleasure.

I love Ms. Rogers work. It’s refreshingly different in a world of sameness. If you like your heroes handsome and strong, your heroines intelligent and soft, and your critters a tad odd, you’ll love this book. It’s a keeper.

A Djubilant Return for the Great Djinn!

October 20, 2008

Rowena Cherry

Knight’s
Fork

Rowena
Cherry

LoveSpell
ISBN: 0-505-52740-5
ISBN:
978-0-505-52740-0

Those of us who loved Forced Mate and
Insufficient Mating Material could hardly wait for the release of Rowena
Cherry’s latest sensual futuristic romance replete with hilarious chess puns and
hunky Great Djinn.

Queen Electra-Djerroldina must bear a green-eyed heir,
and soon, so she picks super sperminator (Cherry calls him a superimpregnator)
Djarrhett, Saurian Knight and enemy of her husband, Viz-Igerd of Volmoth. Always
ready to find a way to stir up trouble to his own benefit, her brother, Emporer
Tarrant-Arragon sends her and ‘Rhett to earth. She works her wiles on him and
hoo-baby, is he ever tempted, but ‘Rhett not only won’t donate his sperm, he’s a
virgin. Then there’s the little problem of the chastity belt she wears–and no
key.

As one of my favorite characters, an earthling named Grievous said,
“The problem with your bloody Great Djinn gene pool is that there’s no lifeguard
on duty.”

Knight’s Fork is fun, sexy, fast-paced, and very clever. Rowena
Cherry’s talent shines once again, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next
book in the series. There’s nothing like a Great Djinn god to spice up your day!
I highly recommend this book!

Top Ten Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Read Down Home Ever Lovin’ Mule Blues

October 5, 2008

10. Your husband will wonder why you insist on watching PBR
bullriding.

9. You will have to come up with a good reason for watching
PBR bullriding.

8. You’ll buy your husband spurs and chaps for his birthday,
and then you’ll have to figure out how to get him to wear them.

7. You will want a pair of high heels with spurs, too, but
where to find them?

6. You’ll have a sudden urge to acquire a pet skunk.  Your husband isn’t any more enthusiastic about this than he was when you wanted to watch Cats instead of the Super Bowl.

5. You’ll be trolling the pound for a bloodhound/collie mix just like Beauty.

4. You’ll be looking at real estate in Grasmere, Idaho, where the story is set.  I’ll save you
some time—here’s a map of the area.

3. You’ll break out into a fit of giggles when you hear the prologue to Canterbury Tales.

2. You’ll be very disappointed because there’s not one single chicken in this book.  Anywhere.

And the number one reason why you shouldn’t read Down Home Ever Lovin’ Mule Blues:

1. You’ll never look at a mule again without wondering if he’s the real Socrates.

Enjoy!

You can help NF research in 60 seconds

August 30, 2008

Dear
Friends,

American
Express is currently sponsoring a non-profit contest called The Members
Project
. We have submitted our Drug Discovery Initiative, which helps
to identify drugs for NF treatment, for consideration. Almost 1200 projects
entered and the DDI proposal is currently in #42 with 1087 votes.

Voting
closes at midnight on Monday, September 1. The top 25 projects will move to the
next round, with the chance to share $2,500,000.00 in funding. This is an
important opportunity for our community to raise awareness and drive much needed
resources toward researching therapeutics for NF.

You
do not need to be a card holder to vote and it takes less than a minute to
register as a guest and then login to vote. American Express cardholders can
login with their user name.

Please
visit our homepage at www.ctf.org.
Clicking on the top item in the “What’s New” section on the right side will take
you right to the American Express Members project page. Your vote, an investment
of less than 60 seconds, could bring us closer to treatments for NF.

We
need your vote before midnight on Monday, and please distribute
to friends and family and ask them to vote for it as well. Feel free to post
this message on Myspace, Facebook, any bulletin boards and other social
networking sites.

Many
thanks and the best to you on this holiday weekend,
